Taigh na Traon Testimonials

Third time here. The house gets better each time-like the new kitchen. Had a great time walking and relaxing in between walks. The Quiraing, the Storr, Waternish coast cliffs(as seen from the kitchen windows). The Cuillins from Sligachan and the Elgol Coast walk were good walks. The weather was typically Skye for the first week and glorious for the second week - a real bonus!! Food at the Lower Deck in Portree and the Indian takeaway were good. Had a great time, thanks Nigel and Nancy.

The house has pretty well everything on my wish-list – kitchen with proper kitchen table, gas cooker plus a dishwasher; sitting room with comfy sofa and a real fire plus hearth boxes with padded seats for toasting toes; a utility room with tumble drier and pulley line. Sarah (13 ¾yr old dog) loves pottering round the garden (often in the middle of the night) and lying by the boiler and the fire,. The black folder, leaflets and books were very helpful giving us info for many more holidays (even though we’d been to Skye 2 or 3 times before). A great holiday even though it rained most of the time.

House filled our needs beautifully. Rebecca (aged 3) loved the garden. All in all, had a wonderful time, a superb house. Just like "Arnie" in the "Terminator" films we will be back.

We have had a lovely week. We recommend a trip to Glendale (near Dunvegan) the Toy Museum was great and we had the most wonderful meal at the cafe in Glendale . The day was rounded off with a walk out to Coral Beach . The castle and seal trips looked good but we ran out of time. Also recommend the Calmac trips. We went to North Uist and Harris. The white sand beach was amazing. Great day out. Other notable trips were Elgol (scones at the cafe not be missed) and the Skye Museum of Island Life-fab! Also loved the house. Thank you!

Have all had a fabulous week with the weather being unusually kind to us which meant visits to the Coral Beach and sandy beach at Staffin a must - children had lots of fun at both. Will miss the views as we return to the city - never seen anything quite like the scenery here. Dunvegan Seal Boat Trip, Toy Museum in Glendale and the Serpentarium at Broadford all worth a visit too. Thanks for a lot very comfortable and clean cottage-it helped make the holiday!

With rain we arrived, with a golden sun we had to leave. It was a great time with many interesting and exciting walks and the rainy time we often spent in your comfortable and kozy house. Thank you for the nice week!

Donald - Nancy and Nigel are very welcoming and very nice people. The peace and quiet is amazing-you can hear the birds, the lambs, the cuckoo and the bees.
Margaret - Nicest place I've ever been in my life - loved every minute and look forward to coming back.

We are a family of simple dreams and from now on a utility room that doubles as a bird hide will be one that we aspire to. We have had a beautiful holiday and will be back.
PS Sam climbed her first stair. Can someone please find the owl that is roosting in the fir tree* and if anyone discovers a painted heron stick in the surrounding countryside please bring it back to the cottage! Thank you,
*We have had two unsuccessful scary night watches

We loved the cottage. We loved the garden too. The swings were fab and so was the hammock. We had a good time and visited loads of places. The weather was mixed but that didn't stop us enjoying ourselves! We had a look for the owl but didn't see it. This was our first time in Skye an we will defenitly come back again! :

Thanks for the use of your house (the fantastic drying room got a lot of use!!) the welcome dram and the lemongrass soap were much appreciated (the soap so much we bought about 3 kg to take home!). Amazingly in between the rain and the gales we actually did all we intended to this visit. Not surprisingly the waterfalls were all at their best. Well done to Skye Brewery too!
Quiraing was all we expected. Slàinte.

A wonderfully comfortable cottage with every convenience. A lovely centre for exploring Trotternish. Some of us climbed Old Man of Storr and some the Black Cuillins. Plenty to do around Uig, Portree and Sligachan Hostel and Dunvegan Castle. A warm welcome was much appreciated. Good evening meal at Flodigarry Country Hotel on our last evening.
